The facts in summary, from EFF.org The legalese Worrisome Speculation from the Electronic Frontier Foundation: "the same industry rightsholder groups that support the creation of ACTA have also called for mandatory network-level filtering by Internet Service Providers and for Internet Service Providers to terminate citizens' Internet connection on repeat allegation of copyright infringement (the "Three Strikes" /Graduated Response) so there is reason to believe that ACTA will seek to increase intermediary liability and require these things of Internet Service Providers. Agriculture PSA [09 Jan 2012|07:16pm] I was reading Yahoo! News and this caught my attention: USDA says it will close 259 offices to save $150M Which, okay, saving money and all that. Although I'm somewhat perturbed by the fact that they're going to be closing "259 domestic offices, labs and other facilities" Especially since "the savings will be relatively small in the context of the agency's $145 billion budget" .....so what the heck are they doing with the rest of that money that's more importrant than the offices and labs? *eyes it dubiously* I'm not really pro or con this right now, just... keeping an eye on it? 2 comments|post comment

Fanstuff Roundup [04 Jan 2012|09:20pm] I haven't really done much fandom-oriented stuff in the last while. Mostly on account of time constraints. And what I have done has been for live action fandoms(Thor) and new gaming fandoms(Prototype, Assassin's Creed, Left 4 Dead) even though I haven't played the games. So, new fic stuff up at my FF.net account: Assassin's Creed fic: Bonkers, where Ezio has a very strange day. Prototype fic: Pocket Full of Posy, where poor Alex is having a tough time keeping himself together(and there's a semi-crossover with Fake later, although possibly somewhat OOC) Prototype/Assassin's Creed fic:Deep Cover, where the Assassins are very surprised Fanart that I did for Familiarity by Necrophagy of her character Christan. Tintin Movie [27 Dec 2011|12:04am] Background/Plot: Tintin centers around a young reporter named, well, Tintin, and his adventures all over the world. It's kind of... noir adventure? Only without a lot of the noir. Review/Opinion: It rocks. XD The faces take a minute to get used to, but they really do a very good job of keeping true to the comics, and oh, oh my the interplay between Tintin and the Captain made me grin like nobody's business. Tintin is a spitfire and no doubt about it, and Snowy(his faithful pooch) is the perfect backup. Captain Haddock just makes me glee all over the place, even if I was taken aback by the accent they gave him. It totally works for him though. The graphics are amazing. Just. I could spend all day looking at those graphics. It reminds me of the first time I watched FFVII: Advent Children, with how far it is beyond everything else, even Pixar stuff. I mean, I could see the veins on the back of their hands. Tintin's arms and elbows look like arms and elbows, with bone under flesh and angles and shadows in all the right places. People have presence and weight and mass. *pervs on the graphics some more* Some things they didn't treat uber-realistically, like the sand, but that's understandable and didn't detract from the overall pure shiny that is the Tintin graphics. I didn't particularly have my slash goggles on for this, since Tintin's been a feature in my life since I was knee-high to a grasshopper, as it were. That said, I live in hope of good Tintin fic, whatever the category. XD In summary, they did a wonderful job adapting a wonderful comic. I recommend this movie, even if you've never heard of Tintin before. post comment

Tempest: Teaser! [26 Nov 2011|09:21pm] XD Okay, so here's my second (and hopefully much shorter!) project that's currently in the works. I don't think I'll be posting my progress weekly, but since I'm doing this for nanomango over on lj, I thought I'd post publicly. The first two pages are inked, but I'm going to try some screentones before I call them finished, because doing dark skintone with crosshatching is, uh, yeah. No. So, we have Prologue and Cover pages here. I don't know if I need the prologue page really, but I want it anyway! XD Guess I'll look back after it's done and double-check. *shrug* And yes (it should become clear fairly soon) Rahab is the spiffy looking demon on the cover.
